The most popular variation is the one made from polyethylene terephthalate, or PET (the same material plastic bottles are made from). The production is mostly based in China, India, and Southeast Asia. Polyester dominates the clothing industry, with annual production exceeding 22.67 billion tonnes worldwide. You will find it all types of clothing alone or as a filament fiber with fabrics like cotton, wool, and nylon. It is predominantly used in sportswear.
